We arrived in Istanbul after a grueling 11 hour flight from Seattle. It is a 10 hour time difference so we are trying to figure out whether we should take our morning pills or our night pills. And what happened to Wednesday! Oh, the trials of elder travel.

We checked into our room in an awesome location in Istanbul full of life, youth, partying, great food, and cold Tuborg beer. After a celebration whiskey in the room we headed out to explore.

There are little ice cream stands all around and the server is also a joker. They play You Can Have the Cone if You Can Take it From Me. It is hilarious.
Darla eventually did get her pistachio ice cream cone.
The night scene in this location is filled with tourists and locals alike. A lot are out looking for some great Doner Kebaps. And we found some. But I didn’t get a picture before we devoured ours.

We also found the always present Irish Pub, a great pastry shop and coffee shops galore. Each turn down an alley brought up a new delight!

We are about to embark on an organized tour tomorrow with our favorite tour company, Rail and Sail Vacations, but we flew in a day early to get acclimated to the time change. So, this down day will be relaxing and each getting a Turkish bath, scheduled for noon.
More later!
The Pirate King and Queen are signing off for now.
